So Smart

Aiden is constantly surprising me these days with how smart he is. I know, I sound like a "typical" mom bragging about her kid but he really knocks my socks off. We were in the store the other day, waiting in line and he pointed up to the sign and says "2." We are in line 2, so he is right on the money. He leans over and points to the first line and says "1," then looks to the line on our right and says "3!" Aiden is at point where he can almost count to 10 and recognize all the numbers, even when they are out of order. He gets a little tripped up on 4 and 7 but still, pretty impressive for a two-year-old. Aiden is also getting pretty good with his alphabet, he can almost sing the song with a just a few hiccups here and there. He recognizes many letters and points them out all the time.  It is so amazing to watch someone learn and comprehend so much in the world around them. I am loving every minute of it. Please enjoy these non-educational videos of my little man, just being his silly self!

Feeling Inspired

Every day there is at least one thing that inspires me. For the most part, it has something to do with my son, Aiden but I find it in other places as well. I recently came across this poem written by a 14-year-old(Jordan Nichols) that I was really impressed by. I thought that I would share it with my readers.

Read the poem once through first…
Our generation will be known for nothing.
Never will anybody say,
We were the peak of mankind.
That is wrong, the truth is
Our generation was a failure.
Thinking that
We actually succeeded
Is a waste. And we know
Living only for money and power
Is the way to go.
Being loving, respectful, and kind
Is a dumb thing to do.
Forgetting about that time,
Will not be easy, but we will try.
Changing our world for the better
Is something we never did.
Giving up
Was how we handled our problems.
Working hard
Was a joke.
We knew that
People thought we couldn’t come back
That might be true,
Unless we turn things around
Did you notice it? (We bet not.) Now, read the poem again – only backwards.
Unless we turn things around
That might be true,
People thought we couldn’t come back
We knew that
Was a joke.
Working hard
Was how we handled our problems.
Giving up
Is something we never did.
Changing our world for the better
Will not be easy, but we will try.
Forgetting about that time,
Is a dumb thing to do.
Being loving, respectful, and kind
Is the way to go.
Living only for money and power
Is a waste. And we know
We actually succeeded
Thinking that
Our generation was a failure.
That is wrong, the truth is
We were the peak of mankind.
Never will anybody say,
Our generation will be known for nothing.

Wasn't that incredible? I am so impressed and it just goes to show that there is something to learn from all ages. Now, I cannot have a weekly post without a snippet about Aiden. He has taken to laying right in front of his door when I put him to bed, just waiting to see one of us walk down the hall so he can say "Hi!" On more than one occasion, in the past week, he has fallen asleep behind the door, making it impossible for me to open the door. He is also becoming more independent. Today, he called me in his room for help retrieving an item that was out of reach. After giving him the object he desired, he gave me a kiss and said "Okay. Thank You. Bye." Well, at least he is polite about blowing me off. Haha, I love that kid.

Sporting the Dodgers shirt he got from his Great Grandpa!!

We love to be silly!
